Genium Costers 2017

This wine is made from grapes planted on slopes called “Costers” (spectacularly steep land, 45 degrees, where no machine can be used), where the vines are practically a hundred years old, which gives a repeatable minerality . . , concentration and structure compared to other areas. The grapes undergo a 48-hour pre-fermentation cold soak, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 24°C to 26°C, in small stainless steel tanks, and macerated for a period of 30 days. Aging in new Allier French oak barrels of different toasts and torons for 14 months.

Grapes: 45% Grenache, 45% Carignan and 10% Syrah.
Bottled unfiltered. 1,000 bottles produced.

The old vines of our Coasters are almost 100 years old and have a very limited production of around 300 grams per plant.

Description

Tasting Note:
Intense purple color. The nose shows mineral aromas, pencil lead, undergrowth, intense ripe black fruit with nuances of smoked oak and spices.

In the mouth it has a great taste of ripe fruit, notes of spices, a soft vanilla from the oak and a tannin mature enough to continue evolving, with a persistent finish.
